Dr. Nuhu Abdullahi Usman has cultivated multifaceted expertise across Islamic studies, jurisprudence and law. After earning a Bachelor of Shari’ah from International University of Africa, Sudan in 2008, he continued honing niche scholarship. This included an LLM in Comparative Jurisprudence (First Class) and a PhD analyzing rulers’ decisions and public interest, both from Al-Azhar University, Sudan by 2016.
Complementing advanced qualifications, Dr. Usman built practical instructional skills, teaching Islamic law, Quranic studies, ethics and political systems at Bayero University since 2013. He also serves Sule Lamido University in a part-time capacity. His academic insight also enriches religious understanding through 9 published scholarly works analyzing jurisprudential perspectives in outlets like the Journal of Dirasatul Islamiyya.
In addition, Dr. Usman has supervised the translation of over 15 hadith collections and narrations into the Hausa language to make Islamic texts more accessible.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Usman directs his erudition to benefit Muslim communities. As Imam and teacher at Bayero University’s Central Mosque and an advisor on administering the Madrasatu Daril Ulum, he promotes Islamic literacy. Leveraging Arabic and English fluency, Dr. Usman also shares ideas internationally, presenting research on themes like Muslim minority rights and governance at conferences in Indonesia, Malaysia and beyond.
